Face-to-Face Counselling & Psychotherapy

Face-to-Face Counselling & Psychotherapy

Whether you are interested in working with us as a private individual or as an organisation, your first point of contact will usually be an email or telephone call. If we think we are able to provide the kind of service you are looking for, we will invite you to an assessment or consultancy session. This is not normally a session for which we will charge you.

Private Counselling & Psychotherapy

We regard your initial assessment session as an opportunity for both you and us to assess whether counselling or therapy is something from which you would benefit, and if so, in what form. You will normally have completed a questionnaire prior to attending for your assessment – this gives us some basic background information with which to work.

At the end of the assessment, your assessing therapist will offer some preliminary feedback about what he or she has observed during the session, and will advise you as to whether or not he or she considers therapy would be beneficial. Many clients who are deemed suitable to continue as clients with us wish to make an appointment to begin work there and then, while others prefer to go away and think about it. We are more than happy that you should do this – in fact we encourage you to visit more than one potential therapist before making a firm commitment, since your relationship with your therapist will be the most important element in the potential success or failure of the work you undertake.

We would normally expect individuals and couples to commit to an initial 6 sessions of work, usually (although not always) occurring once weekly. We find this often proves sufficient for those bringing relatively simple issues. For others, the six sessions offers a time-limited introduction to counselling and therapy, during which period, the therapist is able to assess the client’s needs and preferred style of working in more detail. For such clients, the review which takes place at the end of the initial period allows them to examine what they have achieved thus far and to consider what remains to be worked on. Having decided to continue, both client and therapist will formulate a plan for continued work, usually in an open-ended contract.

Individual Fees

Our fees are £50.00 per 50 minute session. We have some reduced-fee availability for those on low incomes – please enquire about availability during your initial assessment.

Organisations

We will usually come along to your premises to discuss your needs in detail and to get some background information on your organisation as a whole. Having met with you, we prepare and present a detailed proposal for the work you require, with costs and terms.

Organisational Fees

The wide variation in the type of work undertaken for organisations makes it difficult to provide a fees tariff. However, we are more than happy to provide an outline of likely costs if you call and give us the details of your requirements.

Quality Assurance

All our counsellors and therapists are fully qualified, accredited and insured. Those working with young people under 18 are subject to Enhanced CRB Checks.
